| The
Challenge of unity
My
careful observation and evaluation of ICAN operations
in relation to the ratio of its achievements in the
past years showed that our
collective efforts as a community yielded very little
dividend. This could be attributed to a faulty system
on which the organization operated. The organization’s
administrative machinery lacked the necessary structures
needed for the successful operation of a community-oriented
entity like the ICAN. For ICAN to become more functional
and productive, we need to rectify this fault. I have
joined the race for the office of the President of
ICAN in order to help reverse the problems facing
ICAN.
My
offer to serve is an expression of my ardent belief
in unifying Ndigbo in DFW. We are all witnesses to
explicit stories of mean conduct of some in our midst.
It is my position that ICAN, more than ever must dissuade
all forms of divisive tendencies. All hands must be
on deck as we attempt to reject all forms of clannishness
and insincerity.
We
cannot remotely achieve our objectives without everyone’s
participation in the process. May we reflect on what
history will record of us, and let it be that those
who will come after us will have to borrow a leaf
from what we have accomplished as a people with a
common goal. I will channel efforts towards those
things that will indeed contribute in uniting us,
in our pursuit of growth and progress towards a cohesive
and focused direction. We as a people should not let
the present challenges discourage us from appreciating
that only through pooling our resources together in
good faith and trust shall we be able to achieve great
victories.
Together,
we will make life more meaningful for our people again.
As
I present myself, with humility, to be a candidate
to the office of President of ICAN, I see myself as
a child of circumstance, interested in bringing a
rebirth of the resourceful zeal and commitment of
our people. I will hold sacred the wishes our people
will bestow on me as we plan an all-inclusive and
goal-oriented organization.
